Newsletter Spring 2018 |
For the 2018/19 membership year starting 1st April 2018 we will be introducing an online membership system which will allow you to manage and renew your membership. The system is provided by ClubSpark who already provide our online court booking system. If you have made an account before, either for court booking or coaching, please use the same login details. You can now pay online by Direct Debit via GoCardless.
If paying online is a problem for you, please contact our Membership Secretary Cath here and we will find you an alternative payment method. You will need to activate your membership before the start of the membership year on 1st April in order to receive the new gate access code for the club. You can sign up and pay for your membership at the following address: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/lydneytennisclub/Membership/Join If you don’t want to renew your membership for next year, please let me know so I can take you off the list. Family Memberships We don’t have full records of who pays a family membership, so if this is what you want, you can also sign up via the link above and choose 'Family 2018/19’. You will then be asked to add the other members of your family. Junior Memberships Parents of junior members (under 18, not part of a family membership) should create/sign in to an account in your name. You will be asked to add your child’s details when you select a junior membership. If you have any questions or experience any problems, please contact web support here.
After the success of our Sport Relief event 2 years ago, we have decided again to attempt a 12 hour tennisathon, but this time we are aiming to fill all 4 courts at the club. This will take place on Saturday 17th March from 8am to 8pm. We are asking now for volunteers to fill the courts throughout the day. To do this, I ask that you complete the following (very quick) Doodle poll and select all of the possible times you are willing/able to play. Please enter the names of everyone you will be playing with where it says ‘enter your name’, or if you don’t have anyone to play with just put yourself and we will find you a partner. https://doodle.com/poll/vi56x3wdppnh5gin Once we have enough people, we will allocate you a time so that we can fill the courts throughout the day. You can do anything from a proper match to silly games, we don’t care as long as it’s tennis! You don’t need to be a member to take part, so please try and get your friends and family involved, even if they don’t play tennis. The more people we can get to take part, the more we can raise for Sport Relief. 2 years ago we raised nearly £1100 for Sport Relief, so this year we will aim to go even higher. If you are planning to take part, you can find sponsorship forms below so that you can get started on your fundraising. There are different ones depending on whether you are under or over 16. You can also sponsor us online at the following page: https://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/lydneytennisclub Hopefully as many of you as possible can get involved in what will be a fun, tennis-filled day!
A reminder that the deadline for opting in for Wimbledon tickets is February 23rd. If you haven't received a notice from the LTA, you can opt in by googling 'Wimbledon Ballot 2018'.
We currently have 198 members who are eligible for tickets, of whom 57 have opted in so far. The more who opt in, the more pairs of tickets we are allocated! This year, if you opt in, you will automatically go into our club draw for tickets, but you are not committing to buying the tickets if your name is drawn out. Our club draw will take place in late March once we know how many tickets we have been allocated. To opt in, you do need a 'British Tennis Membership Number'. If you don't have one, the process is straightforward and free. You need to google 'British Tennis Membership' and complete the relevant section for club members. The date for our Awards Evening this year is Saturday 18th November at 7pm. It will be held at Watney Hall again with a buffet, bar, quiz, raffle and, of course, all the awards for this year.
Tickets will be on sale very soon from Nikki, Caroline and other committee members. £10 for an adult, £5 for U18 and £25 for a family ticket (2 adults & 2 U18) It was a very enjoyable social event last year and I hope this year as many of you as possible will come - friends and family are very welcome too! If you won a trophy last year, please could you return it to either Nikki or Caroline so that it can be engraved ready for presentation to this year's winner. So please save the date - SATURDAY 18TH NOVEMBER |
