I know most of you are probably already aware of the results of the various championship finals, but just in case you're not...
 
Harry Hale won the Men's singles title - for the 6th year in a row!  Runner up was Lee Paddock.
 
Rachel James won the Ladies' singles.  Shani Courtney was runner up.
 
Ladies Doubles champions were Amy Biddle & Katie Weeks.  Runners up were Jess Geelhoed & Rachel James.
 
Men's Doubles winners were Matt Leach & Jason Wong with Harry Hale & Rich Jones as runners up.
 
The winners of the Mixed Doubles were Jess Geelhoed & Paul Gilbert and the runners up were Kirsten Mathews & Simon Miller.
 
And in the Phillis Beeley Tournament played on 10th October, the winning team was Karen Geelhoed, Sue Russell, Nikki Salter, Neil James & Simon Miller.  Big thanks to Caroline Stanley for organising the tournament.
 
Many congratulations to all the winners and runners up and thanks to everyone for taking part!

A quick overview for you of a highly successful summer season in the Gloucestershire league for our men's and women's teams.  We entered 3 men's teams and 7 women's teams this year - quite impressive in itself but of those teams, four have secured promotion.
 
The women's A team actually finished joint first with Oxstalls in Division 1 but missed out on promotion to the premier league on set difference.  Really diasppointing after an amazing season but next year I'm sure they'll do it.
 
The women's B team will be staying in Division 2 again next year following a season marked by injuries - and tie-breaks!!
 
The women's C, D, E and F teams all secured promotion - brilliant news for all involved and well deserved success.  Especially so for some of the players who had never played league tennis before.
 
The women's G team will be staying in Division 5.
 
Far too many ladies to congratulate individually - but you know who you are!!  Onward and upward for the 2022 season...

Both the men's A and B teams will be staying in their respective divisions and the C team will either be going down or staying in the same division depending on how the leagues are set up next year.  But a successful year with quite a few players new to league tennis - a really good base to build on for next year.

Many of you may already be aware that a group of our juniors have been doing some fundraising for the club during lockdown but for those of you who aren't Facebook users, this may be something you didn't know.  The idea of the fundraising was that they were going to walk the distance from Lydney to Roland Garros and raise money for the club at the same time.  They have done better than that and have already surpassed that milestone so are now continuing on to Rome.
 
Two of our juniors, Rachel James and Jess Geelhoed, are keeping track of the distances walked etc and have done an amazing job and deserve massive congratulations, as do all those who have taken part.

We are so lucky as a club to have such an enthusiastic and dedicated bunch of juniors - it wouldn't surprise me to see them continue on past Rome...

​Some great news to share with you - we have been named Gloucestershire LTA's Club of the Year for 2020!!  I am, of course, completely biased but we all thoroughly deserved it based on how we pulled together (twice!) to overcome the flooding.  If you look on Gloucestershire LTA's Facebook page you'll see the announcement etc.  Well done everyone for all your hard work and resilience this year!!
 
But not only did we win Club of the Year, Rachael also won Development Coach of the Year - again so well deserved and many, many congratulations to Rachael!  Details of this are also on GLTA's Facebook page.

The draws have been made and matches for this year’s Club Championships will kick off tomorrow.
