Hi All, a couple of us sat in at a meeting of the Recreation Trust last Monday where the bridge by the tennis club was discussed.
I have to say that I left the meeting with a sense of despair, anger and frustration. Apart from the fact that the Tennis Club has never been involved in any discussions regarding the future of the bridge since an engineer's report was commissioned back in June and that I only found out by chance at the end of September that its condition was being monitored, I have always wondered why there were no attempts to carry out a repair and keep it open until a suitable replacement could be financed.
It turns out that no estimates have ever been forthcoming to repair it! Not only that but it now appears that no funding will be available until next summer at the earliest - if at all.
As a result, it is my intention to put together a strongly worded letter of protest which I will send to the Town Council + other bodies which will hopefully be able to apply some pressure on our behalf.
