BONUS BALL 2015 UPDATE

Hi All. First of all my apologies to those club members who had a bonus ball last year and who will have received information for 2015 already from Julia.
 
For those not familiar with the scheme, our 'Bonus Ball' has been the club's main way of raising extra funds for various projects over the past few years.  It raised around £5000 towards the new floodlights in 2013 and the money raised last year went towards our share of the costs to repair the footbridge, the money needed to service the older lights on courts 3+4 and the cost of having a bridge light installed before Christmas.
 
The way the scheme works is that you buy a number for £24.  £12 go into the fund-raising pot and the remaining £12 buy you a number in the draw for each month of 2015.  Last year we sold 101 numbers which allowed us to have 2 prizes each month, a 1st prize of £70 and a 2nd prize of £31 - much better odds of winning something than the lottery!  It also generated £1212 of extra funds to put towards key projects.  Even though we've recently secured £4800 in grants to put towards having the 4 courts cleaned, 2 repainted and junior lines painted on 2 courts, we know that we shall still need to find around £1500 from our own funds to make up the shortfall.  We would also like to replace the tired-looking surround netting which has been in place since the 1960s and which will cost around £18000, so fund raising continues to be very important.
 
If you are new to the scheme and would like to support the club by buying a number, could you please do one of the following:

• Write a cheque for £24 made payable to Lydney Tennis Club and post to committee member and Bonus Ball Organiser Julia Goss at:

          Lydney GL15 4NX
 
         Please include a note with your name, address, phone contact and email address.  Julia will then contact you with details of your number.

• There is a safe-box in the club house and you can drop it in there.

As it takes a while to organise, we shall do the first draws in March which will cover January/February/March.  Thereafter the draw will take place on the first Monday of the month at club night.
 
The scheme is also open to friends and family of the Tennis Club, so if you can persuade others to buy a number, it will be greatly appreciated.
