Hi All. Please find below a letter from club and committee member, Julia Goss which went out yesterday to those people who supported the Tennis Club's fundraising appeal in 2015 by purchasing a bonus ball. For those new to the club, the scheme works as follows: You buy a bonus ball number for £24 at the start of the year which lasts for the whole of 2016 and which covers 12 monthly draws. Half of the money goes in monthly prizes and the other half towards club improvements. As you will see, last year 100 numbers were sold. This raised £1200 for the club and allowed 2 monthly prizes - one of £70 and one of £30, so the odds are quite good of winning your money back. This is open to both club members and non-members, so if you feel you can support the club either by renewing your number or by joining in, please follow the steps below as outlined by Julia. If you can persuade family and friends to join in, that too would be much appreciated. Best Regards Martin Godwin (Club Chairman) Dear Bonus Ball Chums Thanks very much for supporting Lydney Tennis Club in 2015. The £1200 raised last year provided a significant contribution towards our ongoing improvement plans. Last year we repaired the bridge, added anti slip strips and improved the steps. Courts were cleaned and repainted, floodlights serviced and a light installed on the bridge. In 2016 we are hoping to refurbish the toilet/changing facilities (circa 1952!) and landscape round the back of the clubhouse. We’re probably looking at around £1500 for that. Last year 100 Bonus Balls were purchased which meant we had a first prize of £70 and a second of £30. If you’re happy to continue for another year please do the following: 1. Write a cheque for £24 made payable to Lydney Tennis Club 2. Post to Julia Goss, 4 Meadow Close, Viney Hill, Lydney, GL15 4NX 3. Put your cheque and details into the box in the clubhouse. 4. Give cheque and details to Martin or Nikki. 5. By BACS Account: Lydney Tennis Club Ref: Your full name Account No. 00103831 Sort Code 30-95-29 If using the last option PLEASE let me know by e mail when you’ve done it as I need to keep my records up to date/acknowledge payment/remind you of your number and, most importantly, remain on friendly terms with our unsuspecting treasurer. A couple of weeks after this letter is sent I’ll start having a ring round to find out who’d like to carry on. If you’ve had a rush of blood to the head and already sent a cheque I’ll be sending an e mail instead to remind you of your number. Naturally, we hope most of you will opt to continue and if you can persuade more friends or family to join, that would be wonderful. As well as doing a good deed don’t forget the thrill of the monthly draw and the exciting possibility of winning back the cash you’ve given us plus some extra! The draw will resume in March when we’ll have the triple delight of drawing numbers for January, February and March. How can you resist? There’s no obligation, of course, and if you feel you’d rather not this year just let me know – and many thanks for your generous support.
