Hi All. You may not be aware but Lydney has a thriving Twinning Association with Bréhal, a town in Normandy, just a couple of miles from the coast. If you google 'Bréhal', you'll be able to get an idea of what it 's like. Just lately a couple of things have been put to the Tennis Club. Exchange Visits by our two Tennis Clubs I have been asked by the Lydney Twinning Association to sound out members to ask if anyone would be interested in a future tennis exchange visit. This is something which has happened in the past and very successfully but not for some time now. It is impossible to provide details at this stage and a visit this year would seem impractical. However, if in principle you are keen on the idea, please let me know and maybe something can be arranged for 2016. Request for Accommodation One of the Lydney Association members has been asked by a French colleague if they know of an English family who could accommodate a 14 year French boy for a couple of weeks in July, so that he can practise his English. An English family with children of about that age would be ideal and if they are about to opt for GCSE French in Year 10, that could be very useful. French schools break up much earlier than ours for the summer holidays and so I'm assuming that he could be here before our schools break up. This would mean that he could accompany his English host to school here, provided the school agrees! In return, the French family would be happy to accommodate the whole English family at some agreed point. If you think you can offer accommodation, I will send you the information which was sent to me. Best Regards Martin Godwin |
