The Tennis Club has successfully applied to the Tesco 'Bags of Help' scheme for help with refurbishing the club's 4 courts.
This is great news, as we know that to clean the courts and have 2 repainted is going to cost £5100.
As from today, we are one of the 3 choices in the Lydney + Coleford stores and customers will be using their blue tokens to vote for their preferred choice over the next 2 months.
If we prove the most popular, then we shall receive up to £4000, if 2nd up to £2000 and if 3rd £1000. The club is looking at a lot of outlay in the coming months, particularly with the need to upgrade the sewage facilities. We are also due to have work done to the electrics, the practice wall, the gates and are looking to put in an application for funding to have the surround fencing replaced - which in itself will require an input from the club of several thousands.
We had the courts cleaned and 2 repainted in 2015. We need to get them cleaned again to make them as safe as they can be for the forthcoming winter months + have the other 2 repainted. Therefore to have help from the Tesco scheme will be a great bonus.
If you could help us by making sure you ask for a blue token every time you shop at Tesco and putting it in the Tennis Club's box, that would be great. If you could spread the word and persuade family and friends to do likewise, even better.
Dare I say it but 'Every Little Helps'. (Who says that advertising slogans don't work?)
