Hi All
I was informed earlier today by the Recreation Trust that the little bridge by the tennis club will be decommissioned as from tomorrow afternoon, as its condition is considered to be deteriorating and that the Trust cannot risk the possibility of an accident should it suddenly deteriorate further.
There are plans in place already by the Trust to seek funding for its replacement but it does mean that there will be no bridge for several months and that access to the club will have to be either via the bridge at the skateboard park or via the bridge by the lake.
I have made my feelings very clear as to the difficulties this places the club in but following a specially arranged site meeting this afternoon with an expert in these matters on hand to inspect the bridge, the Trust confirmed its earlier decision to close the bridge as from tomorrow afternoon.
There is no reason why tennis should not continue as usual but it does mean that access to the site will be more difficult. I would advise the following:
At this stage, all we can do is monitor how best to ensure that tennis will continue until the footbridge is replaced.
Apologies for the inconvenience but unfortunately this is something that has happened out of the blue and that has basically been taken out of our hands.
If you do have any questions or comments, please let me know.
Regards

There is no reason why tennis should not continue as usual but it does mean that access to the site will be more difficult. I would advise the following:
- That you cut across the field between the skateboard park and the club rather than risk the path that runs alongside the river.
- To keep the court surface + club house facilities clear of mud, that you change into tennis shoes once at the club, as the field will be muddy once the poorer weather sets in.
At this stage, all we can do is monitor how best to ensure that tennis will continue until the footbridge is replaced.
