WIMBLEDON TICKETS

6/12/2014

Hi All.  As a follow-up to the email sent recently regarding applying for Wimbledon tickets, I've had a reply from the LTA to the various questions I asked and basically the situation is as follows:
  • In the past one of our club members organised tickets.  Club members informed him if they were interested, he then informed the LTA and they then told him how many tickets had been allocated.  As there were always fewer tickets than people who asked, we organised a draw to see who was successful.  All those who wanted tickets had to have a British Tennis Membership number and the number of tickets allocated to the club was based on the number of club members who have BTM.
  • This year the LTA has sent an email to all club members with BTM inviting them to 'opt in' if they would like tickets.  I know for a fact there are some members who have not received this email.  If that is the case, you can opt in by phoning the LTA Service Hub on 0208 487 7000 and quote your BTM number.
  • Whether you want tickets or not, you will help those who do by opting in anyway, as this year the number of tickets allocated will be based on the number of members who actually opt in and not just on the number of club members with BTM.
  • We can then still do a draw, as there are bound to be fewer tickets than there are people who want them.
  • Apparently this is not available for members aged 9 and under.  If therefore you are a parent of a junior member and are interested in tickets but don't have BTM, you can apply for it by googling 'British Tennis Membership' and putting 'Lydney Tennis Club' down as your 'Place to Play'.  That way you don't have to pay.
I hope that clarifies the situation!  Why the LTA has to make things so complicated, I don't know as it strikes me that they've just added another layer of admin to what has been done in the past.

Any questions, please ask.

Best Regards

Martin Godwin
